Schwarz 2020 Market Wrap Up

First, we would like to say congratulations class of 2020, it’s been a challenging year and one to remember!

A year full of ups and downs, but it safe to say we’re coming out of this year strong and heading into 2021 with positive signs, particularly for the glorious Northern Beaches. Restrictions are easing off, domestic travel allowed again, buyer confidence returning to the market and resilient property prices. The facts below!

Despite the pandemic, property prices along the Northern Beaches remained incredibly resilient, and have in fact increased since last year. CoreLogic housing data indicates a 9.49% increase in Housing Prices and 11.76% for Units on the Northern Beaches.

Rental returns on the Northern Beaches have also held up well compared to other parts of Sydney. We’ve seen more people flocking towards the beaches due to work from home practices and wanting to be closer to the beach. This led to a competitive market for tenants pushing returns up. It was only last month that Schwarz leased a home that was originally $2,000 p/w, now just leased for $2,700 p/w that’s a huge 25% increase in one year.

Whilst the Real Estate was quieter in the first quarter of the year, things gradually picked up and we couldn’t be more happier of our teams achievements for 2020…

Furthermore, economists are suggesting that next year could even be the strongest growth for a decade due to Australia quickly bouncing out of a recession and the governments work to incentivise buyers, paired with all time low interest rates.
